The Story

Phone camera ads have a format problem. Thirty seconds, a drum loop, and a list of specs nobody remembers by the time the next ad plays. For the OnePlus 12 launch, we wanted to try something the category mostly doesn't, let the camera disappear behind the people using it. So we launched Through The Lens, a documentary series following three photographers in Tokyo whose lived experience shaped how they see, and whose work brings the OnePlus 12 cameras to life. Episode one is Allan Abani, a black and white portrait photographer who landed in Tokyo with nothing and now shoots the faces everyone else only reads about. Not a megapixel in sight.
